Charles Worthington, celebrity stylist
Charles, whose fans include Sophie Dahl, Jodie
Kidd and Rosanna Arquette and whose haircare products are sold
at Boots, says: "Get
regular trims every six weeks to keep split ends at bay and your
style in shape.
"You should also treat dehydrated, over-styled
hair to a weekly deep intensive conditioning treatment. Wrap your
hair in a warm towel
while the conditioner is on to help it penetrate the hair shaft."
A fan of natural-looking hair, he adds: "Try
to avoid the use of electrical stylers every day - give hair a
break every now and
again and let it dry naturally. If you do use electricals regularly,
vow always to use a product specially formulated to protect hair
from heat styling."
And if compliments on your hair have been scarce, perhaps it's time
for a change.
"Get out of that style
rut - maybe you have had the same cut and colour for years. The
New Year is the
perfect time to have a
change. Go for a fringe, a new colour or a complete re-style to give
your look an overhaul."
Laetitia Rix, make-up artist
"A great resolution is to make sure that you change your make-up
regularly and toss out cosmetics that you have had for a while," says
Laetitia, a make-up artist who also runs the B cosmetics store in
London's Carnaby Street.
"Eye make-up especially should be detoxed
often since it has more potential to cause irritation and possibly
worse."
And why not see in the New Year with a new look?
"Changing your eye shades regularly not
only keeps you ahead of the fashion pack, it's a great way to revamp
your look regularly.
Once you commit to colour, there is no way you will want to go back
to playing it safe."

Glenis Baptiste, nail technician
Glenis, who has tended to the nails of stars such as Christina Aguilera,
Angelina Jolie and Kylie Minogue, says that women should treat themselves
more in 2005.
"If you can afford it, try to visit a manicurist twice a month,
but if that's too pricey, put aside an evening every fortnight to
pamper yourself in front of your favourite TV programme," she
says.
"Invest in a good spa pedicure basin,
apply a few drops of peppermint soak in the bowl and relax your
feet. While your feet
are being soaked, give yourself a home manicure."
Hands tend to bear the brunt of everyday living and stresses, so
she also advises people to stop biting their nails, to wear rubber
gloves when they are washing the dishes, and using a hand cream regularly.
"You should also always have a nail file handy
just in case you break a nail, and wear a top and base-coat
to protect nails. Finally, you should never wear chipped nail
polish - always take it off straight away as it gives a bad
impression."
